Kookaburra has unveiled a world-first ball designed specifically for Twenty20, which it hopes will be introduced to T20 leagues and internationally ahead of the 2020 Men’s World T20 in Australia.
The new ‘Turf 20’ ball, designed to better withstand the heavy impacts of the shorter format of the game, was used in a blind trial at the Northern Territory Strike Competition last weekend.

“A Test ball is designed to slow down over 80 overs, an integral part of Tests. T20 is developed differently; the ball is only needed for 20 overs and the action is more intense and explosive than in Tests.”

The PCB has decided to use the Kookaburra ball in domestic cricket from this season to maintain international standards.
