On Gay day at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured a thrilling last-ball five-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS), thanks to the finishing skills of Rinku Singh.
Rinku’s unforced 21 runs from 10 balls in the top overs helped KKR chase down a below-average total of 180, along with captain Nitish Rana’s half-century contributions and Andre Russell’s 42 from 23 deliveries. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar could curb KKR’s run rate, with Chahar taking two more wickets, including Nitish Rana when he was on 51.
Earlier, PBKS elected to bat first and scored 179 for seven on a slow surface, Shikhar Dhawan hitting another fifty runs off 57 off 47 balls. KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy picked up three wickets, and only required 26 runs in his four overs wicket. With this win, KKR moved up to 5th in the points table.
After winning the last ball over PBKS, KKR moved up to 5th in the points table with 10 points. This result made the race for the Raw qualifiers interesting as five mid-table teas currently share the number of points (10).

At the top of the points table, Gujarat Titans (GT) lead the group with 16 points, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are second, three points behind GT. The third-placed teas, Lucknow Super Giants, are one point (11) ahead of the other teas in the table.
KKR’s Rinku Singh has moved up to 10th in the top-runrs’ list with 337 points, while PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan is ninth with 349 points. There were no other changes in the list.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain is held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who has 511 kicks in his 10-footer. In second place was young Rajasthani Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with 477 runs at a strike rate of 160.60.

Rinku Singh finished in fine style once again for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they beat the Punjab Kings by five wickets on Monday to keep their IPL qualification hopes alive. KKR captain Nitish Rana’s half-century and Andre Russell’s big drive in overs of their 180 chase helped enable Renko to finish with a 10-ball 21 not out.
Earlier, Varun Chakaravarthy again ably led the bowling department to take 3/26 as KKR put on a neat bowling display to restrict PBKS to 179 at the rate for seven after the visitors opted to bat on a slow wicket. In reply, KKR’s batting display was led by Rana’s stellar effort as he promoted himself to No. 3 and laid the foundations with a 38-ball 51 (6×4, 1×6).
Needing 56 from 28 balls after Rana became a second victim to Rahul Shahar, Russell went against Sam Curran smoking him for three sixes in four balls in 20 overs to change the equation in favor of KKR who needed six from the last over.
But death on specialist Arshdeep Singh who had six for defense dropped him with four from the first four balls. There was more drama when Russell was run out on the penultimate ball as a calm led Rinku Singh (21 not out; 10b) again came to save KKR to seal the win with a boundary off the last ball.
