NEW DELHI: Cricket season is underway and partnerships are being formed. The UCWeb UC Browser has teamed up with Twitter and Microsoft’s Bing search engine to provide a mobile portal to all things cricket ahead of the cricket season with the debut of the refreshed UC Cricket.

This is part of a wider plan by UC Browser, which is part of Alibaba’s mobile business group, to follow the trend of digital content and shape the way content is consumed on the mobile web.
UC Cricket, which was launched in 2013 to provide news and updates on cricket matches, has now grown into a cricket content platform with over 100 percent increase in average daily visitors compared to the previous year, according to a statement from UC Browser.
UC Browser, Twitter and Bing have a huge user base in the country. According to the statement, the partnership aims to transform the digital landscape of cricket content.
Twitter will share live, public and conversational content related to UC Cricket cricket matches, such as popular tweets from cricket players and exclusive Twitter-only content from official cricket team accounts, such as native videos, Periscopes, vines and photos.

Microsoft’s tech giant Bing will provide predictions for upcoming games via its Bing Predicts service. UC Cricket also includes new features such as a floating widget called UC Express that allows the user to instantly access cricket-related content, and “customizable notifications” that allow users to subscribe to an upcoming game to update push notifications when the game starts.
According to a report by Ernst & Young, India has a huge appetite for digital content, with nearly 50 percent of all content consumed coming to the small screen in less than five years. According to the report, a significant increase in the number of different forms of media being consumed online, such as videos, photos, live streams, social interactions, etc.
Through such ground-breaking partnerships in the industry, UCWeb aims to address the core challenge faced by users and partners, namely content discovery and navigation for users and content distribution by publishers and partners.

Twitter integration is now available for UC Cricket. Bing integration with UC Cricket will begin on March 14, 2016.
