After Monday’s solid closing match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) which proved to be a tough match with both teams playing well, there are quite a few changes in the points table for both the Orange and the Purple. cover. .
In Monday’s match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured a thrilling five-wicket last-ball win over Punjab Kings (PBKS), thanks to the skills of Rinku Singh.
Rinku’s impressive 21 runs off 10 balls in the final overs helped KKR chase down a below-average total of 180, along with the contributions of skipper Nitish Rana’s half-century and Andre Russell’s powerful 42 from 23 deliveries. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar were able to slow KKR’s run-rate, with Chahar taking two wickets, including Nitish Rana’s when he was on 51 runs.

Earlier, PBKS had elected to bat first and scored 179 for seven on slow ground while Shikhar Dhawan scored another fifty innings of 57 off 47 balls. KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy took three wickets to give away just 26 runs in his four overs quota. With this victory, KKR moved to fifth place in the points table.
After their last ball win against PBKS, KKR have moved up 10 points to fifth position in the points table. This result has made the battle for the play-offs more exciting as five mid-table teams currently share the same number of points (10).
At the top of the points table, Gujarat Titans (GT) lead the pack with 16 points, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in second place, three points behind GT. The third team, Lucknow Super Giants, has a one point lead (11) over the other teams in the table.
KKR’s Rinku Singh has moved up to 10th in the list of most runs scored with 337 runs, while PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan is ninth with 349 runs. Beyond that, there are no changes to the list.
Tata Indian Premier League Points Table And Standings
The Orange Cap, which is awarded to the tournament’s top run scorer, is currently held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis, who has amassed 511 runs in 10 matches. In second place is young Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with 477 runs at a strike rate of 160.60.
After his impressive run of 3/26 against PBKS on Monday, KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy has moved up to fifth on the list of most wickets this season with 17 wickets in 11 matches. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohammed Shami currently holds the Purple Cap, with 17 wickets this season.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan and CSK seamer Tushar Deshpande also have 17 wickets each, but their economy rates are higher than Shami’s.
