IPL 2023: KKR vs PBKS, what is the change in points table, orange cap, purple cap? everything you need to know
Monday’s knockout match between Kolkata Knights (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) proved to be a tough match, with both teams putting up strong performances, with significant changes in the ranks, orange cap and purple cap.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat PBKS by five wickets in the last wicket of Monday’s match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, thanks to the skill of Rinku Singh.
Rinku’s 21 runs from 10 balls in the final helped KKR to a below-par 180, captain Nitish Rana’s half-century contribution and Andre Lasse Andre Russell made a strong contribution with 42 off 23 deliveries. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar were able to reduce KKR’s run rate, with Chahar taking two wickets, including Nitish·Nitish Rana’s score of 51.
IPL 2023 Points Table: Chennai Super Kings consolidate third position
Earlier, PBKS opted to bat first at 7 for 179 in the slow overs, with Shikhar Dhawan hitting another 57 off 47 balls in 50 overs. KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy took 3 wickets but conceded just 26 runs in his 4-run quota. With the victory, KKR moved up to fifth place in the standings.
After victory in the last goal over PBKS, KKR moved up to fifth place with 10 points. This result makes the playoff race more interesting, as the five teams currently in the middle of the standings are tied on points (10 points).
In the standings, Gujarat Titans (GT) lead with 16 points, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are second, 3 points behind GT. Third-placed Lucknow Super Giants are one point (11) ahead of the rest of the standings.

Rinku Singh of KKR jumped to 10th in the top scorers’ list with 337 runs, while PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan was ninth with 349 runs. There were no other changes to the list.

But David Miller made it look like a one-sided affair. The match saw top performances from the likes of David Miller, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami. All these proven match winners sealed the match for Gujarat Titans who sealed the win by six wickets and 10 balls. Safaraz Khan and David Warner played well but that did not solve Delhi Capitals problems. They have now lost two matches in TATA IPL 2023:
Ruturaj Gaikwad currently holds the orange hat. He is doing well in TATA IPL 2023.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bowl. The Capitals were asked to hit, but it worked against them. Prithvi Shaw was dismissed early when he attempted a reckless pull-up. Mohammed Shami took advantage of Shaw’s weakness and sent him back to the pavilion for just seven runs. David Warner tried to hang on but the wicket kept rolling off the other end. After the strong game, the score was 52-2. Marsh was also dismissed by Shami.

Alzari Joseph’s double over Warner and Rossu broke the mainstay of the Capitals’ batting after the power play. Now it’s Safaraz Khan’s turn. He really did a good job. He persevered when everyone else struggled. But his 88 shooting percentage hasn’t worked in the capital’s favor. Axar Patel added the finishing touch as the Capitals finished 163/8. Rashid Khan ended up doing the damage with the ball.
