After today’s solid knockout between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) which proved to be an uphill battle with both rails playing well, there have been quite a few changes in the standings, Orange Hat and Purple Hat.

In today’s match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured a thrilling five-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS), thanks to the skill of Rinku Singh.

Rinku’s impressive knock of 21 runs off 10 balls in the final overs helped KKR chase down a sub-par total of 180, along with contributions from captain Nitish Rana’s half-century and Andre Russell’s powerful 42 off 23 deliveries. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar managed to slow KKR’s run rate, with Chahar taking two wickets including Nitish Rana when he was on 51 runs.
Earlier, PBKS had elected to bat first and scored 179 for seven on a slow surface, with Shikhar Dhawan scoring another fifty-plus innings of 57 off 47 balls. KKR’s hysterical spinner Varun Chakravarthy collected three wickets and conceded just 26 runs in his share of four overs. With this win, KKR moved up to the fifth spot.
After defeating PBKS in the last ball, KKR moved up to the fifth position in the league with 10 points. This result has made the playoffs more interesting as five mid-table teams currently share the most points (10).
At the top of the table, Gujarat Titans (GT) are leading the group with 16 points while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in second place and are three points behind GT. The third-placed team, Lucknow Super Giants, is one point ahead (11) of the other teams in the table.

KKR’s Rinku Singh has moved up to the tenth spot in the run-getter list with 337 runs, while PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan is ninth with 349 runs. There have been no other changes to the list.
The Orange Cap, awarded to the tournament’s top scorer, is currently held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis, who has scored a total of 511 runs in 10 matches. In second place is Rajasthan Royals young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal with 477 runs at a strike rate of 160.60.
After his impressive 3/26 win against PBKS today, KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy has moved up to the fifth spot in the run-scoring list this season with 17 goals in 11 matches. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer ohaed Shai wears the purple cap, having taken 17 wickets this season.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan and CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande also have 17 wickets each, but their efficiency is higher than Shai’s.
