South Africa India Cricket – Reportedly, the BCCI will postpone the bilateral series against South Africa between September and October due to the clash with IPL 2021.
With the outbreak of Covid-19 last year, cricket calendars had to be adjusted several times. While international cricket seems to have regained its rhythm, India’s tour of South Africa this year has now been postponed due to a clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 14 Phase-2.

South Africa would visit India for a two-match series ahead of the T20 World Cup in September. The two teams would play 3 ODIs for the showpiece. With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) planning to host the rest of the 2021 IPL between September and October, the South African series had to be sacrificed.

“The series cannot be held and in any case there is no better preparation for the T20 World Cup than playing a high-intensity tournament like the IPL. The T20 World Cup will start within a week or 10 days after the IPL, while the SA series can be held later.
“Perhaps additional matches will be played when India tours South Africa early next year,” sources said.
Team India will end their England tour on September 14 and resume IPL 2021 from September 19 or 20. Shortly after the conclusion of the T20 competition, the ICC T20 World Cup will begin in mid-October. Due to such a short schedule, the BCCI has no time for the South African series.
As the T20 World Cup date is yet to be set, there are talks that the test series between India and New Zealand in November this year may also be rescheduled.
