Sixer King of Cricket – Hitting a six is one of the greatest game-changing skills a batsman can possess in modern cricket. As the popularity of the sport has largely shifted from the classic five-day format to limited-overs cricket, the importance of big players these days cannot be overemphasized.
After making his international debut in 1999, West Indies’ top run-scorer has mostly come in sixes. Chris Gayle holds the record for most sixes in international cricket with 553 from 483 matches across the three formats. That means the Master of the Universe has scored 3,318 of his 19,594 runs in sixes.

Rohit Sharma has so far played 47 Test matches and managed to take 68 wickets in them. Surprisingly, his record has improved in limited overs cricket where he hit 273 sixes in 241 ODIs and 182 sixes in 148 T20Is. Rohit Sharma has hit the highest number of sixes among active cricketers.

Indian Masala League | Part 8 | | Hardik Pandya • Sanju Samson • KL Rahul • Faf Recognized as the ICC Cricketer of the Year 2019, Rohit Sharma has certainly made a name for himself in the world of cricket. He is known to have scored 264 against Bangladesh, which is the highest individual score in ODIs. He also inspired many young players to play his short shots and send the ball into the stands. This is why bowlers are afraid to bowl the short ball to Rohit Sharma. Rohit, who captained Mumbai Indians in the IPL and served as vice-captain in the Indian cricket team, has hit 423 sixes across all formats at the international level. He is one of the most successful openers of all time.
IPL 2023 Longest Sixes: List of Biggest Sixes of Every Match in Indian Premier League Season 16
His comparison is the mighty Yuvraj Singh, who needs no accolades and is committed to hitting big boundaries. He made his name in the world when he hit six 6s on England bowler Stuart Broad. By the end of his career, Yuvraj had hit 22 sixes in Test cricket, 155 sixes in the ODI format and 74 in T20 Internationals. This takes his total to 251 sixes in all formats.
Rohit still has many opportunities to add six to his name and surpass his records. However, even though Rohit beats Yuvraj in hitting more sixes, one thing that Rohit finds very difficult to achieve is to hit six 6s. What Yuvraj has done is called impossible in the world of cricket as only a few have achieved it and it is clear that in the game of cricket anything can happen. So Yuvraj will always be the Sixth King of India.
