All-rounder Chamika Karunaratne, who was handed a one-year ban by the SLC for breaking his player contract during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, has found a place between the two teams. The board made no official announcement about ending his ban early or even possibly reducing his sentence.

Nuavindu Fernando earned his first call-up to the national team when he found a place in the ODI squad. The 23-year-old recently scored an unbeaten 63 off 42 deliveries as Galle Gladiators beat Dambulla Aura in the Lankan Premier League.
Both teams include regulars like Patums Nissanka, Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya De Silva, Maheesh Theeksana and Lahiru Kumara.

Spearhead Dushman Shameer is reportedly still recovering from the Grade 2 calf tear he suffered in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Hence, he is not part of any team that will tour India.

Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has suggested a huge shake-up for the visitors’ batting line-up in the upcoming fourth Ashes Test. David Warner’s participation in the competition is under scrutiny after his poor performance in recent times.

The veteran opening batsman made a strong start to the Ashes with 45 runs in the Edgbaston Test and would do well with a fifty at Lord’s. However, Stuart Broad dismissed Warner both times in Australia’s three-wicket loss to England at Headingley as the southpaw managed just five runs in total.
As the old problems surfaced again, Australian captain Pat Cummins did not rule out the possibility of putting Warner in the fourth Test.
Reflecting on Australia’s current predicament at the top of the order, Michael Clarke told Sky Sports Cricket:
“Tell me what they’re doing now… The bottom line is you’re stuck with Warner, gave him every chance and (Stuart) Broad still got his number. Is it time? If it’s time, I wouldn’t even think about who opens the bat because you have options.”
Marnus Labuschagne Isn’t Making As Many Runs As He Should At No. 3. He Could Open, Smithy Could Go To No. 3 And Head To No. 4
Proposing a radical change that includes a temporary opener rather than a removal from the bench, Clarke explained:
“I think Mitch Marsh is in good shape. If he had to do it, he could do it. Alex Carey probably won’t because he has to save, but Travis Head could do it. Marnus Labuschagne doesn’t do that as many runs as there should be at No.3. He could open, Smithy could go to No.3 and Head to No.4 (with Marsh and Green at No.5 and No.6).”
Mitchell Marsh scored a massive ton on his return to Test cricket after four years. The all-rounder also contributed well with the ball, replacing the injured Cameron Green in the playing XI.
On the other hand, Travis Head continued his good run in the middle order. Steve Smith, despite his poor score in his 100th Test match, scored a ton at Lord’s recently. However, the poor form of Marnus Labuchens was a huge concern for Australia, where his low score is also reflected in his ranking.

“I think they should either stick with Warner or bat and keep Mitch Marsh.” – Michael Clarke
Australia failed to make the most of an opportunity that could have ended their two-year unbeaten run in England. The hosts managed to chase down the target of 251 runs in the last innings to hold on to the five-match series and go 2-1 up.
Michael Clarke believed David Warner’s fate also depends on Cameron Green’s fitness ahead of the fourth Test.
“The first thing you have to think about is that David Warner’s time is coming to an end? And the second thing, if you bring Cameron Green back, is he 100 per cent capable of bowling what he needs to? should either stay with Warner or bat and keep Mitch Marsh,” Clarke said.

Wahab Riaz said that Mohammad Amir was only criticizing Pakistan captain Babar Azam when he is not leading the national team across the finish line.
The fast bowler had previously been criticized for his comments about Azam, including that bowling to him was no different from bowling to a tailender. The 31-year-old footballer said this ahead of the start of the 2023 Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Wahab, on the other hand, noted that Amir is allowed to speak his mind, especially if his criticism of the Pakistan captain is justified.
“Amir only criticized Babar when he failed to take the team over the finish line. That is Amir’s opinion and he has the right to share his opinion,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
“On the other hand, Babar also understands and respects certain opinions and is always trying to improve his game. At the end of the day, whoever wins for Pakistan will be respected.”
Pakistan will now travel to Sri Lanka for two Test matches to be played in Galle and Colombo from July 16-28.
