Now the days are approaching when this request of cricket lovers will be answered. This stadium will be built in Periyattodi under Kabaka Gram Panchayat of Puttur and the state government has also earmarked land to build the stadium.
In the past 10 years, the undivided Dakshina Kannada region has been bidding for a world-class cricket stadium and sites have been awarded at Konaje in Mangalore, Kabaka in Puttur and Karkala in Udupi district. Among them, the state cabinet has decided to make land available for the construction of a stadium in a locality called Periyattodi of Kabaka village of Puttur taluk.
The exchange of land-related contract documents with the KSCA will be accelerated. About Rs 48.5 crores. Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has planned to build an international standard cricket stadium with a limited budget.
During his previous visit to Mangalore, former cricketer Anil Kumble had agreed with the state government that a world class cricket stadium is needed for cricket training in Dakshina Kannada district. Therefore, due to land shortage in Mangalore city, then District Collector AB Ibrahim ordered the Tehsildars through District Officer to reserve land in rural areas.
