The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on March 6 announced the schedule of all league matches to be played in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premiere League (IPL).

Sponsored by the Tata group, the 2022 edition of the IPL will feature a total of 70 league matches, which will be played from March 26 to May 22. The schedule for the four playoff matches, which will be played once the league stage ends, will be shared later, the BCCI said.

The final of the tournament will be played on May 29 but the details related to the time and venue will be shared later by the nodal cricket body.
Most of the matches in the league stage, 20 each, were scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the adjacent DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Of the remaining 30 matches, 15 will be played at the MCA International Stadium in Pune and the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
The 70 matches in the league stage were scheduled over a period of 58 days. The first match will be between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. The last match of the league will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings.
“There will be 12 double headers in total and the first match will start at 15:30 IST. All evening matches will start at 19:30 IST,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.

A total of 74 matches are scheduled to be played in IPL 2023 this year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for the 16th edition of the T20 league on Friday (February 17). The tournament is all set to begin on March 31, 2023 with a match between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, the summit will be played on May 28.
The opening clash will be followed by a doubleheader the next day on April 1, with Punjab Kings hosting Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of the day, followed by a clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. Sunrisers Hyderabad face Rajasthan Royals in their first match of the season on April 2 and on the same day, Royal Challengers Bangalore face Mumbai Indians in their first match of the season.
“Season 16 of the marquee event will begin on March 31, 2023, with a blockbuster clash between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium,” the BCCI said in a statement.
