Earlier, Faf du Plessis’ 86-run knock backed by spirited bowling helped CSK beat KKR by 27 runs in the IPL 2021 final at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday. With this, MS Dhoni’s line won the IPL trophy for the fourth time, having previously won the tournament in 2010, 2011 and 2018.

Rahul faced the threat of Dhawan, who trailed him by 68 runs towards the end, but Jayant Yadav fired just 15 for 13 in the fourth over, leaving him second in the Orange Capt’s list with 618 runs from 17 matches at 44.14. strike rate 144.73 centuries and four centuries.
This was the second time that Rahul has scored more than 600 runs in a season, having achieved this with his 659 runs in 2018. The current tally also made him KXIP’s highest run-getter in a single season, surpassing his previous record in 2018.
However, Rahul’s KXIP failed to qualify for the playoffs, finishing sixth in the points table with six wins in 14 matches. They languished at the bottom of the table in the first half of the league on a seven-game winning streak, but staged an inspiring comeback to win five in a row before losing two crucial wins in a row that affected their chances of making the playoffs.
