Kolkata Knight Riders’ thrilling win over Punjab Kings made them the fifth team to reach 10 points in the 2023 IPL table.
Rinku Singh again finished impressively for Kolkata Knight Riders as they beat Punjab Kings by five wickets on Monday to keep their hopes of playing in the IPL alive. KKR captain Nitish Rana’s half-century and Andre Russell’s strong chase over the match 180 saw Rinku finish the match with a 10-ball 21 not out.
Earlier, Varun Chakaravarthy again led their bowling department to take 3/26 as KKR did some clean bowling to restrict PBKS to 179 for 7 after the visitors opted to bat on a slow wicket. In reply, KKR’s batting show was led by a superb effort from Rana as he moved up to No.3 and set the scene with a 38-ball 51 (6×4, 1×6).
Needing 56 off 28 balls after Rana was Rahul Chahar’s second victim, Russell smashed Sam Curran for three runs off four balls for 20 runs to change the equation in favor of KKR, who needed 6 in the last over.
