Just a couple of days after the BCCI announced the official schedule for the first draw of the Women’s Premier League, the BCCI on Friday announced the official schedule for the 16th draw of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2023. IPL 2023 officially kicks off on the last day of the financial year. Gujarat Titans take on CSK in Ahmedabad on March 31.
So far, BCCI has published only the schedule of group stage matches. The IPL 2023 group stage matches will start on 31st March 2023 and will end on 21st May 2023. As we have seen in previous years, Qualifier 1 will be held on 23rd May and Eliminator on 24th May. Qualifier 2 is scheduled to take place on May 26, while the Grand Final is scheduled for Sunday, May 28.
The entire tournament is planned so that 70 group stage matches will be played in 52 days. While the playoffs will take a total of 7 days including rest days. Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the favorites to win the IPL 2023 at 1.5 odds, according to leading cricket site Betway.
Meanwhile, a total of 18 double headers have been set for IPL 2023, including two weekday double headers and 16 weekend double headers. Afternoon doubleheaders begin at 3:30 p.m. Evening games start at 7:30 p.m., regardless of whether it is a doubleheader.

A total of 10 teams will play 70 group stage matches, followed by 4 playoff matches. Each team will play a total of 14 group stage matches. However, not all teams will play the other 9 teams twice. So, as in 2022, the 10 teams are divided into two groups of 5 each.
In the groups, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals are in Group A. While Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad are in Group B.
According to the group division, the respective teams from each group play each other twice; so a total of 8 intra-group matches per team. Also MI and CSK, KKR and SRH, RR and RCB, DC and PBKS & LSG and GT will play each other twice. In the offseason, the members of Group A will face the remaining four teams of Group B once and vice versa.
IPL 2023 will bring back home and away matches unlike the last three years which had a different format. With the home and away format, each team will play 7 home games and 7 away games at their designated venues. So Chennai will play 7 matches at their home ground in Chennai.
Fixtures Of Ipl 2023
In terms of venues, 12 venues are planned for IPL 2023. So, apart from the 10 home venues for the respective teams, Guwahati and Dharamsala have been added as additional two venues. Jaipur and Mohali have 5 matches to play. While the remaining two matches are scheduled in Guwahati and Dharamsala respectively.
Summing up the IPL 2022 results, Gujarat Titans emerged as the winners of the IPL 2022 and Rajasthan Royals as runners-up. Royal Challengers Bangalore finished third and Lucknow Super Giants finished fourth. Meanwhile, the most successful teams CSK and MI took 9th and 10th place respectively.
In IPL 2023, a mini-auction was held at the end of December. As new players are being added to the team, none of the teams will start as favorites in IPL 2023. So, we should see an even contest between all the 10 teams. It’s also the first time since 2019 that we’ve seen the return of the Home and Away format. Therefore, the tension is even greater.
