Indian Premier League 2023 may be almost 5 months away but the hype never dies. The official date of IPL 2023 auction has just been announced. It will be held on December 23 in Kochi. With a month to go before the auction, all 10 teams are already planning to retain their players before the November 15 deadline set by the BCCI.

Last year, teams were allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players last year, but in the IPL 2023 auction, there will be no such limit. Overall, CSK is expected to retain a total of 7 overseas players and they will have around INR 22 crores to buy 4 more players.

Delhi Capitals are expected to retain a total of 20 players including 7 overseas players. Longi Ngidi’s team will be missing Mandeep Singh, Parveen Dubey and the expensive Shardul Thakur. The team has mostly covered all their bases but is still looking to get INR 17.95 crores for an overseas player and some good Indian batsmen.
Bowlers: A Narich Nurjeh, Chetan Sakaria, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Khalil Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizar Rahman and Vicky Stwal.
IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans will look to have the same team that played for them in 2022. Apart from some extra players, the team will not retain players like Vijay Shankar, Pradeep Sangwan, Varun Arun, Gurkeerat Singh, Dominic Drakes and Noor Ahmed. Instead, the team is looking to invest in fresh Indian blood.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2022 is not a positive as they finish seventh in the points table. They are expected to keep only three foreign players and 11 Indian players. The team will drop precious Shivam Mavi who was weak last year. With around INR 6 crores left, they will look to revamp their squad by making some good buys.

Similar to Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants will keep their heart and drop some not-so-good players. LSG left out most expensive players Avash Khan and Jason Holder and are looking to buy them again in the auction at a lower price. Overall, LSG will have to retain 15 players, including six overseas players, leaving INR 29.25 crores in the auction.
Although Mumbai Indians finished last season, they will retain the maximum number of players which is 22. The only players expected to be left are Timal Mills, Kieron Pollard, Riley Meredith and Fabian Allen. With the cap space for 3 more overseas players, Mumbai Indians will have approximately INR 14.6 crores in their kitty.
All-rounders: Arjun Tendulkar, Daniel Sams, Hrithik Shawkin, Jofra Archer, Mohd. Arshad Khan, Ramandeep Singh, Sanjay Yadav, Tilak Verma and Tim David
Punjab Kings had a good IPL 2022 auction but finished sixth in the points table. The team will keep its core, but will shed some expensive players. The team is expected to retain a total of 17 players, including 5 overseas players.

For Rajasthan Royals, expect minimal changes in the lineup. They are expected to retain a total of 18 players, including six overseas players. They mostly let go of not-so-good players like Annai Singh, Karun Nair and Rasi Vander Dussen, leaving them with 2 more overseas spots. With INR 10.95 crore, Rajasthan Royals can focus on buying a good Indian player in the auction.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will be a team that will keep most of their players and may drop 2 players Karen Sharma and Sherfan Rutherford. They will have only INR 8 crores in their pocket and can use it to get another foreign player or an Indian player.
