Interestingly, Rajasthan Royals will play their first two home matches in Guwahati before playing their remaining home matches in Jaipur. Just days after BCCI announced the official schedule for the first edition of the Women’s Premier League, the BCCI on Friday announced the official schedule for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2023. The IPL 2023 officially started on the last day of the financial year. March 31 with Gujarat Titans vs CSK in Ahmedabad.
As of now, BCCI is only revealing the schedule for the group stage matches. The IPL 2023 group stage matches will start on 31 March 2023 and end on 21 May 2023. As we have seen in previous years, we should expect Qualifier 1 on 23 May and Eliminator on 24 May. While the Qualifier 2 is scheduled to be played on May 26 and the Grand Final on May 28, Sunday.
The entire tournament is planned so that the 70 group stage matches are completed in 52 days. While the playoffs will take a total of 7 days including rest days. According to the leading cricket website, Betway, Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the favorites to win IPL 2023 with odds of 1.5.
Meanwhile, a total of 18 double headers have been set for IPL 2023, including two weekday double headers and 16 weekend double headers. Afternoon doubles starts at 3.30pm. While the evening games start at 7:30 p.m., regardless of whether it is a double header.

In total, there will be 70 group stage matches between 10 teams with 4 playoff matches after that. Each team will play a total of 14 group stage matches. However, not all teams will play the other 9 teams twice. So, as it was in 2022, the 10 teams are divided into two groups of 5 each.
As for the groups, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals have been placed in Group A. While Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad have been placed in Group B.
According to the allocation of groups, the respective teams in each group play each against each twice; thus a total of 8 intragroup matches per team. Also, MI and CSK, KKR and SRH, RR and RCB, DC and PBKS & LSG and GT will play each other twice. They rest, the members of Group A must face the other four teams in Group B once and vice versa.

IPL 2023 will return home and away matches unlike the last three years which had a different format. In the home and away format, each team will play 7 home and 7 away matches at their designated venues. So Chennai will play 7 matches at Chepauk, their home ground in Chennai.

In terms of venues, 12 venues are decided for IPL 2023. So, apart from the 10 home venues for the respective teams, Guwahati and Dharamshala have been added as two more venues. Jaipur and Mohali have 5 matches to play. While the remaining two matches are scheduled in Guwahati and Dharamshala respectively.
