Indian Cricket Team Name

The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced the official 15-member India squad for the Asia Cup 2022. The tournament is scheduled from August 27 to September 11 and will see Rohit Sharma lead the team with KL Rahul as his deputy. Hardik Pandya, who was the vice-captain in the previous T20 series, will make way for KL Rahul.

Team India has selected 4 batsmen, 2 wicket-keepers, 4 all-rounders, 3 pacers and 2 spinners. Given the conditions in the subcontinent, India felt an extra spinner would help. This is why we see only 3 pacemakers being picked in the total squad. It is also an indication that Team India is playing with 3 spinners and 3 pacers in their last 11.
Team India has selected Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul as openers in the team’s forward line. The captain and vice-captain duo will surely open up as first choice. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan, who has been the back-up wicketkeeper opening for the last two years, has been left out. In his place, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant will play the role of backup openers.
The middle order for Team India will consist of Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav. Meanwhile, Team India has 3 players for the finisher role. The names include Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Dinesh Karthik. Two of these three will surely be included in the final 11.
Coming to the spinners, India have finalized 3 options in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi. Yuzvendra Chahal will lead the spin attack for Team India. While one of Ashwin or Bishnoi will be included in the final 11 depending on the type of batting of the opposite team.

Finally, for the frontline pacers, India have 3 options in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan. Ideally, if the pitch suits pace bowling, all three will be included in the final 11. But if the pitch suits spin bowling, Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the leading contenders.
The total squad seems to be in the expanded lines but 2 players India would miss the most include Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel. Both were sure starters in the final 11. But now they have been left out of the squad due to injury. While Bumrah has a back injury, Harshal Patel is recovering from a rib injury.
Apart from the selected 15 players, Team India also selected Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Deepak Chahar as reserves. These three will be included in the final 15 if any of the selected players are affected by covid or injury. Unfortunately, neither Ishan Kishan nor Sanju Samson are being considered for the backup role.
Asian Cup 2022 starts on August 27. Team India will begin their Asia Cup 2022 campaign against Pakistan on August 28. It is supposed to be Virat Kohli’s 100th T20I match. The final of the prestigious tournament will be played on September 11.
