Indian National Cricket Team Women’s – As the Indian women’s cricket team struggled with dew, out of South Africa uniforms and injury concerns, they lost sight of what lay ahead of them: a place in the World Cup semi-finals.
Sometimes applauding fighting in a losing cause is dangerous because it masks many of its shortcomings. The combat being shown is the very nature of the game to be won. And Harmanprit Kaur showed this struggle, this hunger and this last push. As the Indian women’s cricket team struggled with dew, out of South Africa uniforms and injury concerns, they lost sight of what lay ahead of them: a place in the World Cup semi-finals.

When the Protea fire flared brightly at Hagley Oval, when Mignon du Preez and Sune Luus partnered up, the required bet hovered around the seven round mark and all they needed was a run on every ball. With three off-spinners turning the ball over to two right-handers, Mitali Raj turned everyone deep on the side of his leg.

Since the early 1940s, India has been handing out singles and doubles with the same vigor that educational institutions hand out candy at Independence Day celebrations. Over 30 one-over and two-over runs were scored in the region during this period, as South African batsmen almost never felt pressure on the scoreboard.
The captaincy is not easy. This never happens. There is always a fear of not doing enough. But in the situation that Mitali found herself in, she had to decide whether she needed protection from behind, from the side of her leg, or from the front. She could have either a reversed square foot or a short mid-wicket inside a circle. She wanted both fielders to be on the rope and this unfortunately played into the hands of the chasing side.
But India’s campaign cannot be reduced to this final phase. It was a tournament where they had phases of championship fabric, but other times they looked mediocre as a unit.
Shefali Verma took two ducks to start, but Smriti Mandhana pulled herself out of the blocks with her lazy elegance. Even after winning the first few matches, this swing at the top increased compared to the hosts in the third match when India lost to New Zealand. Mandhana and Kaur took care of the West Indies by the ton, which raised India to a huge number of first opportunities. The game fell again in the top order, this time against England, due to a mistake due to their second defeat in the tournament.
The 10 Greatest Indian Women’s Cricketers Of All Time
Defeat in Australia will probably haunt them the most. As both rookies failed, Yastika Bhatia and Raj had to come back, which they did, but with low punching speed. Kaur’s blitzkrieg eventually produced a competitive result, but it was never enough against an Australian team that always saves its best for the World Championships.
The only match in which three of the top five batsmen in India scored over a hundred hits was against the West Indies. Also, this was the only time they posted over 300. In all other matches, mostly Raj and everyone else except Verma and Kaur hit slowly. When Jemima Rodriguez left the roster, there was a serious vacuum in the team in terms of pace. Unfortunately, this void remained throughout this expedition.
Captain Rudge threw the sitter against the White Ferns. Then they are wrong again and again in this game. It was clear that fielding was India’s weakest link in this World Cup. It came back to haunt them against South Africa in a game where they couldn’t afford to be careless. Mistakes and missed tricks hurt their chances as the Proteas won the game in the final.
For someone like Verma, whose skill level is world class, she comes from a structure where fielding has been sidelined for ages. Not only Verma, in India, hundreds of girls play cricket in the most remote areas, where they are taught only to bat and bowl. Modern cricket prioritizes the field more than any other skill set, and it’s time for grassroots coaches and mentors to take this seriously.

Seven months of meticulous planning by the top management of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) leading up to the inaugural Under-19 World Cup went a long way for India, which secured its first ICC title in women’s cricket.
With India already the most successful country in the men’s under-19s with five trophies, the expectations for the girls’ under-19s were high.

As this is the first time this event has been held, the NCA, under the leadership of VVS Laxman, is actively organizing regular camps and back-to-back series ahead of the competition in South Africa.
It all started with camp last June, when all 25 potential players were selected based on their performance in U-19 domestic competition.
The players then competed in the Challenger Trophy, a quadrangle series featuring the West Indies, Sri Lanka and two Indian teams on a bilateral basis against New Zealand ahead of five games in South Africa prior to the ICC event.
This was extremely important as young female players, unlike juniors, did not often play against international teams.

“You have to give credit to the NCA for how they prepared the players. Compared to boys, girls don’t get as many games at the age group level, but BCCI has made sure they get the best preparation possible for the competition,” Bali said.
Other members of the support staff were head coach Noushin Al Qadeer, batting coach Apoorva Desai and bowling coach Rajeev Datta.
India National Cricket Team New Players
The likes of Shweta Sehrawat, Parshavi Chopra, Archana Devi, Mannat Kashyap and Titas Sadhu became overnight stars thanks to their exploits in South Africa, but Bali believes they still have a long way to go.
“All players have talent, now the women’s IPL will give them a big boost. We need to see how they perform there and prepare for the big stage. This is just the beginning, but there is a bright future ahead,” Bali told PTI.
The coach showed on the pitch that even players who don’t play regularly can be the stars of the future.
“As part of a team strategy, Sadhu played most of the games due to his all-round ability. Another player to watch out for is Shabnam MD. She has a nice rhythmic run and throws balls at 110 km/h. Butter Sumya Tiwari is another player who hasn’t played every game but is very talented,” said Bali.
Does Cricket Need More Recognition And Support?
“After the Men’s Under-19 World Cup last year, all the boys have returned to domestic cricket, and of these, only Yash Dul has entered the Ranji Trophy.
“Boys and girls should not be compared. Boys get a lot more information, start early and play a lot more games. Now girls are also starting to play young, and women’s cricket is becoming more popular,” he said.
Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh were the two senior players of the Indian national team. There were many other players who were intimidated by their presence, but Bali said the captain inspired the entire team.
“She led the team brilliantly. Shafali instantly became friends with the girls and made friends with everyone. This is a great quality for a leader. She played international cricket for over three years but made everyone feel equal.
