The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday (January 21) released the full schedule for this year’s Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Aaron Finch-led defending champions and hosts Australia will take on eventual runners-up Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the Super Round of 12 at the SCG Sydney Cricket Ground.

After a disappointing performance in the 2021 T20 World Cup, India begin their campaign against Babar Azam-led Pakistan. The Green Jackets will play their first match against their arch-rivals at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23.
Teams including Australia, New Zealand, England and Afghanistan have been placed in the first group while India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa have been placed in the second group. Teams from qualifying will be drawn into two groups each, which will also apply to the 2021 edition.
The qualifiers (comprising eight teams) will begin on October 16, while the main draw for the exhibition tournament is scheduled to begin on October 22. For untrained teams, one-time champions Sri Lanka and two-time champions West Indies will play in the qualifiers: the top four teams will play in the main draw (two from each group).

The two semi-final matches will be played at Adelaide SCG and Adelaide Oval on November 9 and 10 respectively. The final will be played on November 13 at the MCG.

The BCCI released its own match schedule against Australia and South Africa on Wednesday. Hosts Australia play three T20Is from September 20 to 25.
They will then face the Proteas in a series of T20Is between September 28 and October 4. India and South Africa will play three ODIs from October 6 to 11. After the series, the Blue Shirts will debut their trophy at the T20 World Championship.
The Indian team has some other tasks ahead of the home season. They will face Zimbabwe in three ODIs from August 18 to 22. They will also participate in the Asia Cup in UAE from August 27 to September 11. The T20 tournament is considered as a preparation series for the Asia Cup. T20 World Cup.
