Australia was the most successful of the five teams that won the tournament, with four titles. West Indies and India won twice each, while Pakistan and Sri Lanka won once each.

After a thrilling finish to the 2011 Cricket World Cup, which was won by India and the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, the 2015 Cricket World Cup is upon us and will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The tournament is organized from 14

March 2015, and it is the second time that the two countries have hosted the event, having previously done so in 1992, with Pakistan defeating England in the final.

A total of 14 teams will start the tournament, each of which has previous experience of playing in the World Cup, apart from Afghanistan who are participating for the first time. Co-hosts Australia are the most successful country in the history of the World Cup, having won it on 4 separate occasions. Cricket World Cup Fixtures Revealed As India V Pakistan Date Confirmed

The format of the tournament in 2015 is the same as in 2011, with 14 teams divided into two groups of 7 each and against each other in the group. The top 4 teams progress to the quarter-final stage where the knockout part of the event begins, with the 4 winners progressing to the semi-finals and then the 2 winners of those matches progressing to the final.

A total of 26 matches will be played in Australia, 23 of which will be played in New Zealand, and the final will be held in Melbourne, with Auckland and Sydney hosting a semi-final each. As Australia is such a large country, each venue can be subject to different conditions, but the tournament is held in late Australian summer and early autumn, which will make some venues slightly cooler than they would be in mid-summer. The hottest months in New Zealand tend to be between December and February, so expect some of the evening games to be a bit cooler as autumn sets in. Not all venues in Australia and New Zealand will provide the typical conditions expected in those countries, with 4 of them using outfield gates, which tend to lack pace and carrying capacity and are all very similar to each other.

One of the most anticipated matches of the Cricket World Cup 2015 will take place only on the second day of the tournament, when India will face Pakistan.
