The ODI Cricket World Cup is being held in India this year and fans are hoping to see their favorite fans compete against each other. The hosts are favorites for the ICC’s showpiece event but have not been at their best since last year’s disappointing T20 World Cup and Asia Cup. Rohit Sharma and Co. are currently facing New Zealand in the three-match ODI series and secured a series win in the second game on Saturday, in Raipur.

Chasing 109 runs, India eased to 111 for two in 20.1 as Rohit Sharma hit a half-century. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 40 off 53 balls. At the start, India demolished the visitors’ batting line-up, scoring 108 in 34.3 overs as Mohammed Shami took three wickets. Meanwhile, Washington Sundar and Hardik Pandya were dismissed twice each.

With the World Cup around the corner, Rohit and Rahul Dravid will be hoping that Jasprit Bumrah returns to full form and finds a solution for the opener.

Chasing 152 for victory, Babar (68) and Rizwan (79) destroyed the Indian bowling as their team cruised home with 13 balls to spare in Dubai.

Shaheen Shah Afridi took his neighbours’ first wicket of the tournament in six tries with figures of 3-31, restricting India to 7-151 despite a heroic 57 from hero Virat Kohli.

“This is the first time we have beaten India and I am proud,” Afridi said. “I knew it would be good for us if I got the early points and I did. My idea was to move as much as possible.

Babar and Rizwan went on the attack from the start with boundaries inside the powerplay – the first six overs when only two pitches come outside the inner circle – to set the tone for their chase.
The dew didn’t help the Indian bowlers, who regularly mopped up the wetness of the ball with their gloves as the openers kept the score going.

The batting partners continued to bat as Babar reached his 50th with a six off Varun Chakravarthy to send the Pakistani fans dancing with joy.
Rizwan brought up his 50 with the fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and then ran into his captain, hitting six fours and three sixes off 55 balls.
“We didn’t do what we wanted, but credit to them for sure – they beat us today,” Kohli admitted.
“They were also very professional with the bat, but we’re definitely not a team to hit the panic button, it’s the beginning of the tournament, not the end.”

Commenting on Afridi’s opening spell, Kohli said, “In T20 cricket, you need a good performance to take some shots with the new ball and he certainly did that.
“So credit to him. He immediately put pressure on our batsmen with the new ball and came in hard.
“Twenty 25 (over) runs would have been good, but brilliant bowling in the first six (over) prevented us from getting those runs.”
Kohli scored his 29th T20 fifty to help his team rebuild before being caught behind Afridi as Pakistan dismissed the batsman for the first time in a T20 World Cup match.

Afridi struck first with a quick delivery that flew in to trap Rohit Sharma LBW for a first-ball duck.
Kohli went into a frenzy from the Indian fans, which was silenced in the second by another rip from Afridi. He got KL Rahul with a delivery that came hard to catch the batsman’s thigh pad and rattle the stumps.
Kohli and new batsman Suryakumar Yadav tried to come back with positive shots when Afridi smashed it for a six.
Rizwan then took a diving catch to cut short Yadav’s stay on the wicket in the 11th over as fast bowler Hasan Ali struck in the first over.
