Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured a thrilling last-ball victory by five wickets over Punjab Kings (PBKS) thanks to Rinku Singh’s finishing skills in today’s match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Rinku’s impressive knock of 21 in the last 10 balls helped KKR bring the average total down to 180, along with contributions from skipper Nitish Rana’s half-century and Andre Russell’s powerful 42 off 23 deliveries. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar could curb KKR’s run rate, with Chahar picking up two wickets, including that of Nitish Rana when he was on 51 runs.
Earlier, PBKS elected to bat first and scored 179 for seven on a slow surface, with Shikhar Dhawan scoring the next fifty-plus innings of 57 off 47 balls. KKR skipper Varun Chakravarthy picked up three wickets and conceded just 26 runs in his quota of four overs. With this win, KKR moved up to the fifth position in the points table.
