Rinku Singh once again finished in flying colors for Kolkata Knight Riders as they beat Punjab Kings by five wickets on Monday to keep their IPL playoff hopes alive. KKR captain Nitish Rana’s half-century and Andre Russell’s huge contribution in the death chase of 180 enabled Rinku to end the match with a 10-ball-21.

Earlier, Varun Chakaravarty once again led the bowling department brilliantly with 3/26 as KKR put up a brilliant bowling display to restrict PBKS to 179 below par as the visitors opted to bat with a slow fan. KKR’s win further deepened their stalemate in the fight for at least four qualification spots. They are the fifth team to score 10 points, with RR leading the list based on their net run rate. KKR is now fifth with a net rate of -0.079. But they could be relegated depending on who wins Wednesday’s match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, both with a game in hand and 10 points each. Third-placed Lucknow Super Giants are just one point ahead of the rest with 11 points, while second-placed Chennai Super Kings are 13. Gujarat Titans are leading the table with 16 points.

Varun Chakravarthy’s 3/26 took him to fifth place in the Purple Cap table. He has 17 winners in 11 matches. Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan of Gujarat Titans and Tushar Deshpande of CSK lead the order with 19 wickets. Shami is followed first by Rashid and Deshpande based on economics. Piyush Chawla is fourth with 17 wickets.

In an exciting match, Lucknow Super Giants won by just 1 run against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He took 2 wickets in his 4 overs and conceded only 23 runs.
Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by a huge margin of 77 runs. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings demolished the Delhi bowlers around the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. With an excellent opening partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad (79) and Devon Conway (87), Chennai got a big total. Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis still holds the orange cap with 702 runs in 13 matches. Chennai’s Devon Conway scored 87 runs against Delhi Capitals. Conway’s innings jumped him to third in the race with 585 runs in 13 innings. Conway has been a consistent scorer for CSK this season. Rajasthan Royals Yashasvi Jaiswal is second on the list with 625 runs in 14 innings. Jaiswal has had a great season in the IPL and has also played a few slips. Gujarat Titans Shubhman Gill is fourth on the list with 576 runs. RCB’s Virat Kohli is 5th in the race with 538 runs.
Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Shami leads the purple cap race with 23 wickets. It will be a battle between Rashid and Shami for the purple cap when they face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. Rashid Khan is chasing Shami and is in 2nd position with 23 wickets. Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal is third on the list with 21 wickets. Chahal has won the purple jersey in IPL 2022.
