The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has come to a grand end. After two months of non-stop cricket activity, it all came down to two teams and one final match.

Although the final was due to be played on Sunday, the weather gods intervened and saw to it that the game was rescheduled for Monday, the reserve day.

League leaders Gujarat Titans took on the charismatic Chennai Super Kings in this season’s clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
A lot was at stake for both teams. While CSK and MS Dhoni had a date with destiny, Gujarat Titans had their own piece of history to chase.
CSK can equal Mumbai Indians’ record of five IPL titles with a win on Monday, while GT had a unique chance to win two titles in two years of existence. It was also their captain Hardik Pandya’s sixth IPL title.

With all the rumors of his rift with MS Dhoni, he should have been the man from Gujarat to break the hearts of Gujarat Titans and their fans. Mohit Sharma completed the final over and was tasked with defending 13 runs. He bowled four brilliant yorkers to give away just three runs. The tie was 10 runs from 2 balls, and up came Jadia, who hit a six off the penultimate ball and a four off the last ball to end a dramatic game of cricket. But he played well for both teams. 01:11- CSK 133-3 (12): Shivam Dube completes the 12th over with a double maximum over long on off Rashid Khan to reduce the tie to 38 runs off 18 balls. The game is well set up for a dramatic ending. Can Dube be the unlikely hero for CSK or will Mohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami limit the men in yellow?
00:50- CSK 94-2 (8): CSK have lost both their openers in the same over but Ajinkya Rahane, who has had a good IPL so far, has already hit two sixes to keep the momentum going in CSK’s favour. However, one or two more goals will make things really interesting. CSK need 77 in 7 overs at 11 runs an over.

00:42- CSK 74-1 (6.3) CSK lose their first wicket: Rotoraj Gaikwad digs his shot off the bowling of Noor Ahmed and it’s one of the simplest catches Rashid Khan will ever take. Shivam Dube comes into bat and replaces Matheesha Pathirana as the impact player.
00:26- CSK 52-0 (4), end of powerplay: CSK are dismissed thanks to some great hitting from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway, although they are helped by the fact that the ball is very slippery due to a wet pitch. The Super Kings could not have hoped for a better start and now need 119 runs in 11 overs.
23:54- Amended run rules: the first four overs will be the powerplay and a bowler can bowl a maximum of three overs. CSK were 4-0 after 0.3 runs, meaning they now need 167 runs in 14.3 overs at a required run rate of 11.52.

However, there is a reduction of five overs as CSK will bat for just 15 overs and their revised target is 171. Play will resume at 12:10 PM.
23:00- Still no sign of play resuming: Although the ground players are doing their best to ensure the pitch is as dry as possible, one of the practice pitches continues to trouble the ground staff as well as the umpires bringing it out for inspection. The next inspection is scheduled for 23:30, but things are looking much better than the last inspection.
22:18- Goals are falling: Good news out there as the goals are falling. However, ground crews will need some time to dry the ground. The next official update will be at 22:45, stay tuned.
10.10 pm- CSK Score: The host broadcasters have said on air that they won’t lose any series if the rain continues till midnight, which means we have about an hour and 50 minutes before the DLS system kicks in.

GT need to concede 213 runs or less to defend their crown. 214 will give us the first Super Over of IPL 2023. Mohammed Shami has the new ball, Ruturaj Gaikwad on strike with Devon Conway’s opening partner at the non-striker’s end. Joshua Little comes in as an impact player for the Titans in place of Sai Sudharsan.

A cameo from Hardik Pandya and a blistering knock from Sai Sudharsan – who was unlucky to fall just four runs short of his maiden IPL century – made batting look like a cakewalk against Mathisha Pathirana. 20:19- GT 86-1 (10): We’ve reached the halfway stage of the GT rounds. Jadeja and Mahesh Taksna managed to apply the break, conceding just 24 runs in the last four overs. Saha and Sai Sudarshan will have to step up to post a fearsome total.
20:05- GT 67-1 (7), Gill departs!: Lightning craft from MSD behind the stumps dismisses Gill on 39. It was a good ball from Ravindra Jadeja and CSK got their first hit. Gill is just 10 runs short of breaking the 900-run mark in IPL 2023.
20:00- GT 62-0 (6), end of powerplay: Saha and Gill lead the Titans to an absolute playoff, scoring 10.33 runs an over. The first two overs, bowled by Chahar and Tushar Deshpande, were quiet.
