A number of batsmen made the occasion special with a century while the legends scored hundreds. Here are the batsmen who have scored the most centuries in ODI World Cups.
So far, six players have scored a total of four hundreds in the World Cup. They are Mark Waugh, Sourav Ganguly, Mahela Jayawardene, T Dilshan, David Warner and AB de Villiers.
Highest Centuries In Cricket
In second place, two batting legends are tied with five-hundredths. Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka and Ricky Ponting of Australia have achieved this figure. Sangakkara scored four of his five centuries in the 2015 edition and all of them were consecutive knocks, an ODI record.

Ponting made his World Cup debut in 1996 when Australia reached the final against Sri Lanka. The last match of the World Cup was in Ahmedabad and he scored a century in the quarter finals against his favorite opponents India.
The top spot is occupied by India’s best batsmen. Sachin Tendulkar, the all-time leading run-getter in World Cup history, has six WC centuries to his credit. He started his journey in 1992 and played the fabric of his girlhood in the next edition. In 2003, Tendulkar scored 673 runs, which still holds the record for most runs in a single edition. In 2011, he added another two hundred to his total.
Rohit Sharma has only played in two World Cups so far, but he is already number one in that number. In the 2015 World Cup, the Indian opener scored his first World Cup century against Bangladesh. He went on to score five more World Cup centuries in the next edition to be held in England. He narrowly missed Tendulkar’s tally as he finished with 648 runs.
