The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday (February 17) announced the schedule for the 16th edition of the T20 league. The tournament is scheduled to begin on March 31, 2023, when defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings clash. Meanwhile, the summit will be held on May 28.

The opening match will be followed the very next day on April 1 by a doubleheader with Punjab Kings taking on Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of the day followed by a clash between Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals. Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Rajasthan Royals in the first match of the season on April 2 and Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Mumbai Indians in the first match of the season on the same day.
“The 16th season of the marquee event will begin on March 31, 2023 with a match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad – the world’s largest cricket stadium,” the BCCI said in a statement.
It was also revealed that a total of 70 league matches will be played in the 16th edition of the IPL. There are a total of twelve places in the tournament. The host cities of IPL 2023 are Mohali, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dharamshala, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Jaipur and Guwahati. The tournament returns to the old format, where all participating teams play seven away games and seven home games.
Like last year, the ten teams have been divided into two groups of five teams each. While Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are placed in Group A, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings are in Group B. The IPL board has issued tenders for new teams and asked interested parties to apply for the ownership and management rights of the teams proposed for the IPL 2023 edition.
All parties interested in acquiring an IPL team must first purchase an RFP or ITT from the BCCI.
ITT is available to interested parties after payment of INR 10,00,000 (Rs. 10 only) and applicable non-refundable tender fee of GST. All other conditions mentioned in the invitation document are valid.
Interested parties are requested to email ittipl2023@bcci.tv for more information on purchasing ITT. The subject of the email requesting ITT should be “ITT’s right to own and manage one of the two proposed new IPL teams”.

BCCI has just released the officially known T20 League IPL 2023 League Match Schedule. The 16th season of IPL starts on March 31. On the opening night, four-time champions Chennai Super Kings lock horns with defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.

70 league games will be played until May 21, and the schedule for the playoffs has not yet been announced. In the league stage, all ten series play seven home and seven away matches, and the matches are played in a total of 12 venues. Evening games start at 19:30 IST and afternoon games at 15:30 IST.
Notably, CSK’s first home match is scheduled to be played on April 3 against Lucknow Super Giants. The team, including skipper MS Dhoni, will return to the Chepauk Stadium after 2019. Also, the 1000th match in IPL history on April 8 will be the first match of IPL 2023 between rivals CSK and Mumbai Indians.
