In today’s match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the final by beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by five wickets thanks to Rinku Singh’s finishing skills.

Rinku’s 21 off 10 in the final over helped KKR reduce their total to a minimum of 180 at an average of 180 with skipper Nitish Rana’s half-century and Andre Russell’s 42 off 23 balls. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar were able to slow down KKR’s run, with Chahar taking two wickets, including Nitish Rana, as he scored 51 runs.
Earlier, PBKS elected to bat first and scored 179 for seven on a slow pitch as Shikhar Dhawan scored his fifty off 57 balls. KKR all-rounder Varun Chakravarty took just three wickets and gave away 26 runs in four overs. With this win, KKR moved up to the fifth position in the points table.
After their last win against PBKS, KKR moved up to the fifth position in the points table with 10 points. The result made the playoffs interesting as the five teams in the middle of the table share the same number of points (10).
The points table leaders Gujarat Titans (GT) are leading the table with 16 points while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are three points behind GT at the second position. Third-placed Lucknow Super Giants lead the rest of the table by one point (11).

KKR’s Rinku Singh is 10th on the Ost-run list with 337 runs, while PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan is 9th with 349 runs. No other changes have been made.
The Orange Cap, awarded to the tournament’s top run-scorer, is currently held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis, who scored 511 runs in 10 overs. Rajasthan Royals youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal is second with 477 runs at 160.60.
KKR’s Varun Chakravarty is fifth in the bowling charts with 17 wickets in 11 matches this season. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans (GT) player Ohaed Shai owns the Purple Cap with 17 wickets this season.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan and CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande also have 17 wickets each, but their economy figures are higher than Shai’s.

It was a perfect start for Shreyas Iyer as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders as the team beat defending champions Chennai Super Kings by six runs. After CSK’s new skipper Ravindra Jadeja was restricted to 131/5 in 20 overs as captain, the Knights chased down the target with nine balls to spare.

However, despite a heavy defeat for CSK, former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni brought back his bygone years with a stunning unbeaten half-century. Dhoni struck when CSK were 61/5 in 10.5 overs. The wicketkeeper then claimed 50 of CSK’s next 70 runs to take his team to a respectable total.
With an unbeaten half-century of 38 deliveries, Dhoni not only owns the Orange Cap but is also the only player to score a fifty in the match. Ajinkya Rahane came very close to the former Chennai Super Kings skipper as he smashed 34 off 44 while opening for KKR.

Despite finishing on the losing side, the Chennai Super Kings player also topped the Purple Cap table. Top bowler Dwayne Bravo is the top scorer with three dismissals and a low score of 132 to defend.
Umesh Yadav, who opened the match brilliantly against CSK (for whom openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were dismissed), came second.
