After Monday’s solid knockout match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) saw a tough fight with both teams playing well, there were a few changes in the orange cap and purple cap on the scoresheet. .
Rinku Singh’s performance helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to a five-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday.
Rinku’s brilliant 21 off 10 balls in the last over saw KKR post a sub-par 180 with middle-aged skipper Nitish Rana and Andre Russell putting on 42 off 23 balls. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar could slow down the KKR cycle, with Chahar taking 2 wickets including Rana Nitish with 51 runs.
Earlier, PBKS elected to bat first and scored 179 for 7 on a soft surface, with Shikhar Dhawan scoring another innings fifty with 57 off 47 balls. KKR’s mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty took 3 wickets and conceded just 26 runs in 4 overs. With this win, KKR will move up to the fifth position on the points table.

After the last ball win against PBKS, KKR moved up to the fifth position on the points table with 10 runs. This result allowed the five mid-table teams to share the same number of points in the most ambitious games of their careers (10).
Gujarat Titans (GT) are at the top of the points table with 16 points while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are at the second position with 3 points behind GT. Third-placed Lucknow Supergiants are one point (11) ahead of the other teams in the points table.
KKR’s Rinku Singh has moved up to the 10th position in the highest run-scoring list with 337 runs, while PBKS skipper Shikhar Dhawan is at the 9th position with 349 runs. No other changes have been made to the list.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis, who has scored 511 runs in 10 matches, holds the gold cap for the highest run scorer in the tournament. Rajasthan Royals’ young opener Yashashvi Jaiswal is in second place with 477 runs at a strike rate of 160.60 runs.

After a brilliant knock of 3/26 against PBKS on Monday, KKR’s Varun Chakraborty has taken 17 wickets in 11 matches to move up to the fifth spot in the season’s highest wicket-taker list. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans fast bowler Mohammad Shami has taken 17 wickets this season and holds the purple cap.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan and CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande also took 17 wickets each but their economy rates are higher than Shami’s.

In the Eliminator match of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians comfortably beat Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs at Chepauk. The Orange Cap race remains the same after the eliminator game. Bangalore Royal Challengers captain Faf du Plessis is the orange cap holder with 730 runs in 14 innings. Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill is chasing him well in the tournament for the Orange Cap. Gill is currently at the 2nd position in the competition with 722 points. Gujarat Titans have two matches left in the 2nd Qualifier and if they qualify they will face Chennai Super Kings in the final. Gill will have a good chance to beat the orange stone from Faf in the next game. Faf’s opening partner Virat Kohli is third on the list with 639 runs. Rajasthan Royals opener Yashashvi Jaiswal is at 4th place with 625 runs, while Devon Conway also has 625 runs but has a chance to make it to the final. He is 5th in the competition.
Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammad Shami led the match with a crimson hat-trick. Shami now holds the purple cap with 26 wickets in 15 matches. Shami was used to the prolific Titans in the Games. Rashid Khan’s partner challenges him with 25 wickets and 2 in the list. Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is at the 3rd place in the list with 21 wickets. Chahal was the purple cap winner in IPL 2022. Mumbai player Piyush Chawla took a wicket against Lucknow Supergiants. Chawla now has 21 wickets under his name in IPL 2023 and is 4th on the list. Chennai’s Tushar Deshpande is 5th with 21 wickets.
