Mohammed Shami won the season’s leading wicket-taker award. Shami took 28 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 18.61.
Shubman Gill was named the tournament’s most valuable player for his impressive season. Gill scored 890 runs in 17 innings including 3 centuries at an average of 59.33 and 157.80. Gill now joins the conversation saying that of course it was a tough job to go through and they were going in the right direction but unfortunately they couldn’t end up winning. He mentions that it is important to start well and early he started but came out in his 40s and 50s. As he added the business end, he began to turn these startups into something bigger. He said he practiced a lot before entering the competition and is fine with changing his technique a bit. All his 100s are different from each other and he ends up picking the right bowlers by assessing the conditions.
Match 3: Ipl 2023
Yashasvi Jaiswal was awarded the Young Player of the Tournament after scoring 625 runs in 14 innings at an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61.
Devon Conway was the player of the match as he hit 47 runs off 25 balls. Conway said it was definitely a long wait and they were a little nervous and he and Ruturaj Gaikwad went out and tried to focus. He added that it was the biggest win of his life and it’s great to be part of this team and the fans are great too. He mentions that much of the credit for his performance must go to Michael Hussey and that it was a special race for him.
In the end, Ravindra Jadeja was the man to get the title hit for Chennai.
