Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi unofficially holds the record for the longest six in cricket history when he hit 153 meters in the third ODI against South Africa on March 17, 2013 in Johannesburg.

The biggest six in cricket came in the fourth ball of the 35th over. Shahid Afridi had already hit Ryan McClaren 12 times in four deliveries. As the pressure mounted, McLaren gave away two extra runs before conceding six.

McClaren gifted a length ball to Afridi and the former Pakistan captain smashed it over the roof and out of the stadium. Afridi, who holds the record for the fastest ever ODI century, smashed 88 off just 48 balls chasing down a mammoth 344 by the South African cricket team. But Pakistan lost the match by 34 runs.

The official record for the longest six in the history of cricket belongs to Australian Brett Lee, who crossed the rope about 130-135 meters. It came in a Test match against the West Indies at the Gabba in 2005. Facing Darren Powell, Brett Lee sent the ball over the roof of the stands and into the practice nets outside the stadium. The ball is said to have traveled nearly 135 meters.

“It was a very good feeling… I almost cleared with the second ball and it missed my throat by an inch. When the ball is up for a catch and the bowling is short and you’re trying to get a crack at one just out of the middle,” said Brett Lee after the match.

The ball hit the roof of the grandstand at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium and rolled back to the ground. The Kiwi batting finished with an unbeaten 78 off 55 to guide New Zealand to a six-wicket win.

Known for his power hitting, Liam Livingstone hits the first ball of the 16th over Haris Rauf’s head to clear roof and land near the rugby stadium. The batsman’s strong 38 helped England put 200 on the board, which eventually proved to be enough as England won the match by 45 runs.

In the 2011 edition of the Indian T20 League, Australian Adam Gilchrist, playing for Punjab, hit former South African seamer Charles Langeveld for a six that crossed the rope 122 meters in Dharamshala.

Australian cricketer Victor Trumper, who played 48 Tests for his national team, was batting for Paddington in a club match in 1903 and hit the ball so brutally that it not only traveled about 120-125 meters but also broke a second floor window across the street.
