Democracy’s XI is written by seasoned journalist, son of former Indian cricketer Rajdeep Sardesai. Essentially, the book tells the inspirational stories of eleven Indian cricketers in the post-independence era. Author’s Democracy XI includes Dilip Sardesai, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Bishan Singh Bedi, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Mohammed Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli. What makes this book a good read is that all these gamers let their guard down while talking to the author. Written by Boria Majumdar, one of India’s most popular sports journalists, Eleven Gods and a Billion Indians takes a deep dive into every Indian cricket tour since 1886. This book also provides a deeper insight and some unknown anecdotes from some popular cricket controversies in India. The author provides a detailed behind-the-scenes analysis of incidents like Monkeygate, Lalit Modi’s Suspension, Fixing Seats, etc.

The corner of the foreign field was written by the Indian historian Ramchandra Guha. This book covers the history of cricket in the Indian subcontinent. The book is about the Indian left-handed spinner of the early 20th century, Palvankar Balu. Balu was a Dalit and was often discriminated against because of his caste, but he became one of India’s greatest match-winners in his time. If you dig into the book, it becomes a social commentary on the history of cricket in India. About the book, Guha writes: “The making of modern India is its subject, and cricket serves only as a vehicle as my main source of illustrative example.”

It is an autobiography written by Sourav Ganguly with journalist Gautam Bhattacharya.
