In Monday’s match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured an impressive five-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the last ball, thanks to the skill of Rinku Singh.
Rinku’s impressive knock of 21 off 10 balls in the final over helped KKR chase down a total of 180, with captain Nitish Rana’s half-centuries and Andre Russell’s 42 off 23 deliveries. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar could slow down KKR, with Chahar taking two wickets including Nitish Rana for his 51 runs.
In the first innings, PBKS opted to bat first and scored 179 for seven on a slow pitch, with Shikhar Dhawan scoring another 50-plus innings of 57 off 47 balls. Varun Chakravarthy got KKR’s secret spell as he bowled a hat trick but conceded just 26 in his over. With this win, KKR moved to fifth place in the points table.
