Shubman Gill finished as the top scorer of the IPL 2023 season with 890 runs. The Gujarat Titans opener had a sensational year on tour as he scored three centuries. He now has the second highest number of runs in an IPL season after Virat Kohli’s 973 in 2016. RCB captain Faf du Plessis finished second on that list with CSK opener Devon Conway on three. The Englishman enjoyed a brilliant season with Rajasthan Royals, scoring a whopping 863 runs in 17 matches with four centuries and as many half-centuries. However, the record for most runs scored in a single edition of the tournament is held by RCB star Virat Kohli with 973 runs in the 2016 edition. In 2010, Sachin Tendulkar became the first Indian to win the Orange Cap in the IPL. Master Blaster scored 618 points in 15 games. Delhi Capitals captain David Warner holds the record for winning the Orange Cape most times (3). If two batters are tied for the same number of runs scored, the one with the better strike rate has the advantage. After Monday’s solid match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), which proved to be a tough fight with both teams playing well, there were a lot of changes in the points table, the orange border as well as the purple cap. .
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured a thrilling last-ball five-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) thanks to Rinku Singh’s finishing skills in the match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday.
Rinku’s impressive 21 runs off 10 balls in the closing overs helped KKR chase down a sub-par total of 180, along with half-century contributions from skipper Nitish Rana and Andre’s strong 42 off 23 deliveries off Russell. Only Nathan Ellis and Rahul Chahar were able to slow down KKR’s run, with Chahar claiming two wickets, including that of Nitish Rana when he was on 51 runs.

Earlier, PBKS opted to bat first and scored 179 for seven on a slow surface with Shikhar Dhawan scoring another innings fifty of 57 off 47 balls. KKR’s mystery bowler Varun Chakravarthy claimed three wickets and gave away just 26 runs from his quota of four overs. With this win, KKR moved to fifth place in the points table.
After winning the last ball against PBKS, KKR climbed to the fifth place in the points table with 10 points. With this result, the race for the playoffs has become more intriguing, because currently five teams from the middle of the table share the same number of points (10).
At the top of the points table, Gujarat Titans (GT) are leading the group with 16 points, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are second behind GT with three points. The third placed team Lucknow Super Giants has one point (11) lead over the other teams in the table.

KKR’s Rinku Singh has moved to 10th place on the list of highest runs with 337 runs while PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan holds the ninth position with 349 runs. There were no other changes in the list.
Ipl Orange Cap 2023: Faf Du Plessis Reaches Top Position
The Orange captaincy, which is awarded to the top scorer of the tournament, is currently held by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis, who has amassed 511 runs in 10 matches. Rajasthan Royals young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is second with 477 runs at a strike rate of 160.60.
After his impressive 3/26 against PBKS on Monday, KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy moved to the fifth spot on the list of highest wicket takers this season with 17 wickets in 11 matches. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Mohammed Shami currently holds the Purple Cap after taking 17 wickets this season.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan and spinner Deshpande of CSK also have 17 wickets each, but their economy rates are higher than Shami’s.
