Softball cricket is a type of cricket played with a ball. It is popular in South Asian cricket playing countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. It also plays to South Asian expatriates living in Middle Eastern countries such as the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as well as expatriates from the US, Poland and Canada. Tennis ball is played by most of the youngsters as it is easier to play than the usual hard cricket ball. Tennis balls are safer as they are softer and less prone to injury. It is strongly believed that tnis form of cricket (softball) originated in India.

To date, the number of participants has doubled and is likely to continue in the near future. Tennis ball cricket was first introduced in sparsely populated cities such as Kolkata, Mumbai, Karachi and Lahore in India and Pakistan, where cricket pitches and protective equipment were not common. He rose to prominence in the early 1990s and is responsible for developing the talents of cricketers such as Sachin Tadulkar, Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar at an early age.

Countries in the Middle East usually play in deserts, while the United States and Canada use diamond-filled baseball fields. In Poland, it is usually played on football pitches, with a slight change in the size of the boundaries.
