In the chase, Shubman Gill (45 of 43) and Hardik (34 of 30) scored an important third wicket stand of 63 runs. David Miller (32* in the off-season of 2019) added the finishing touches with a batting cameo as the Titans headed home with 11 pitches left.

In Rajasthan, Gill could have been scored first when he bowled a long ball from Trent Vault and landed an inside edge to his thigh. He flicked the ball down the front square leg, but Yuzvendra Chahal failed to capitalize on the chance. Prashid Krishna swept Wiridiman Saha (5) and gave RR hope with a good length ball that found a gap between the bat and pad.

Matthew Wade’s poor IPL 2022 ended disappointingly when his attempt to vault misfired. The ball didn’t seem to reach the bat and eventually caught a left pitcher at short mid-off for the 8th inning. GT finished power at 3 1/2 as the RR bowlers kept the team in the game.

Run rate was not an issue, so Gill and Gujarat skipper Haldic played smart. They rotated their strikes hitting a weird borderline in the middle to never get under pressure.

Ravichandran Ashwin followed in 12th place. Hardik hit the 50 RBI mark with 4 consecutive hits and 6 RBIs.

A stable partnership crumbled when Chahal caught Haldic in a slip. But after Hardyk’s dismissal, Gill and Miller completed the paperwork without incident. Miller again had a great touch, hitting three fours and sixes.

The unit, led by @hardikpandya7, won the title in the IPL season at his home stadium, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi.

Gujarat captain Hardik handled the ball brilliantly with figures of 3/17 while Rajasthan was restricted to 130/9 after taking the lead with a toss and batting. With the exception of Butler (39-of-35), no hitter could contribute much as GT dominated the game.

After a slow start, Yashasvi Jaishwar hit several sixes to give momentum to the RR inning. However, the innings ended 22 of 16 as he deflected Yash Dayal’s short ball into a deep square leg. Samson fell to his opponent while trying to draw a ball that was not short. Just short the third man and he sent the ball high into the air.

On some borders from Mohammad Shammi to Butler the RR reached a decent 7 1/2 in the middle stages. However, everything went wrong for the hitter from that point on. Devdut Paddikal couldn’t find his rhythm in the innings. He was sent off for two runs on 10 pitches and Rashid Khan was demoted to third man.

RR were in a big pinch at 79/4 and Butler cut Hardik to the wicketkeeper as he tried to get the ball out to third man. Hetmayer scored several well-timed goals from the Gujarat captain. However, after making 11 he gave the bowler an easy return catch.

Ashwin (6) also went down cheaply and at long he bowled to R. Sai Kishore. RR continued to lose wickets, but the innings ended in perfect form for Gujarat when Shamyorker Riyan Palag, 15, missed the final ball.

Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya was lifted with the ball in the all-important final, taking three big wickets from Butler, Samson and Hetmayer. Rashid was great again in a 1/18 scale figure.

Pandya also impressed with the bat, scoring a vital 34 to calm his nerves after losing two wickets early on. Gill played the anchor role perfectly and Miller claimed the GT’s dominance with a quick attack at the end.
