Apart from the three military centres, the Pakistan Cricket Board has invited the private and public sectors of the country to be part of the domestic circuit. The PCB has started with the restructuring of domestic cricket and going back to the original format of 16 teams including zones and divisions. The PCB has ditched the previous model of six teams after the end of the 2022-23 season. “The Pakistan Cricket Board has written to 27 leading departments expressing their interest in participating in the PCB Domestic Cricket Season 2023-24 starting in August,” PCB confirmed in a press release. “In the letters, the PCB not only invited the departments to confirm their participation in the next season as soon as possible to help prepare the calendar of the season, but also called for the strong sides of cricket and the confirmation of more information and advertising through traditional and new media.”
In the new format, eight regional teams and eight regional teams will play in the first division competition, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Every season that ends below the regional and divisional teams are relegated, and two teams (one regional and one divisional) will continue from the competition in Division 2. Although the 2023-24 season officially starts in August, the government of Pakistan has given the new PCB chairman Najam Seth 120 days (from 21 December 2022) to organize restructure and return to the constitution of 2014. In a race against time, the management committee of the PCB is trying its best to restore the 97 districts that make up 16 regions and return to the old model. There are now about 3,200 groups operating across the country and they are key players in the ecosystem. The government of Pakistan has recently revoked the 2019 constitution of the PCB, sacked Ramiz Raja and his Board and appointed Najam Sethi as its chairman. the ruling committee gave him full powers to work on revising the constitution of 2014. In addition to changes in the board and structure, these constitutional divisions will bring the local area – in 2019, the former prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan became the prime minister of the country after being removed (the prime minister becomes the protector of the PCB).

Spot Fixer Mohammad Aamer Allowed To Play Domestic Cricket Matches
Even though the PCB has closed itself in the divisions, it is not clear that the divisions are willing to rebuild their teams in today’s situation. Such organizations may not have much desire to hire a team of cricketers. Several units closed their operations before Imran’s transition, among them Habib Bank Limited (HBL) and United Bank Limited (UBL). The current patron of the PCB, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, had ordered 18 government departments/institutions in October last year to take back control of sports foundations in Pakistan and start funding sports departments. Approval has been slow – as chairman, Ramiz understands that Rajan has written to private banks about reviving their group, but they show interest. The various departments of the Government depend on the funds of the Government and have not allocated funds since the Prime Minister announced. State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Sui National Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Pakistan Television Corporation (Private) are some of the working government departments. PTV), Sui Southern Gas (SSG), Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) – although it is not clear what they value, they can easily provide funds. PCB’s letter is a test to know their intentions. It is understood that not all 27 components will return, but the PCB needs at least 16 in the system under its proposed internal structure. PSL franchise Lahore Qalandars is one of the private clubs looking to establish a team in the 2nd division, designed to complete the player hunting program. According to the 2014 constitution, the Board of Governors (BoG) will have ten members plus four regional representatives (the top four groups of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy), four representatives of service organizations (the four main groups of the sector) will be chosen at the discretion of the guardian, and two members. Former board members such as Misbah-ul-Haq, Muhammad Hafeez and Umar Gul and the Cricketers Association are asking the government to return to the previous local structure which included groups such as Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), SNGPL and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). I am very happy that local players have been given weightage and players like Abdullah Shafiq and Kamran Ghulam have been brought in. The stadium has helped boost our home game. “
The duo were selected in the Lahore Qalandars squad for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), with Shafiq scoring 251 runs in 11 matches, including 52, at an average of 22.81 and a strike rate of 128.06.
Meanwhile, Ghulam has scored 299 runs in 13 matches, including 55 runs in 55 matches at an average of 24.91 and a strike rate of 117.25.
“The management learned from the mistakes made in previous years and made the right decision. I am happy that the focus has been on domestic players and bringing in players like Abdullah Shafiq and Kamran Ghulam, who have done well at home, has helped strengthen our batting,” he said.

Ghulam also played in the Pakistan Cup, where he was the third highest run-scorer for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 531 runs in 12 matches at an average of 44.25.
As for Shafiq, he has been in excellent form in the three-Test series against Australia, scoring 397 runs at an average of 79.40 with one hundred and fifty.

With these words, I conclude the prediction of HBL’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy this season. They wanted the signings of Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad and hoped that their other experienced players could build a successful team around the two signings. Defeating the SNGPL, chasing their sixth title in seven years, in the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy showed that the games played by Umar Akmal and his veteran players have paid off well and truly. In fact, HBL won only one game
