The Indian team will be able to tour Australia twice in the next Future Tours Program (FTP) cycle from 2024-2032, increasing the number of Tests per series from four to five.

According to the Age report, Cricket Australia (CA) “recently notified national and international broadcasters that it has secured two full Test tours each from India and England through this FTP, with the India tour increasing from a four-match series to a five-match series.”

The two final Test tours in Australia, with four matches in each series, were won by India and went down in history as the two biggest matches.

India Women Remain In Limbo As Bcci Looks Set To Postpone Australia Tour

The current ICC FTP, which runs from 2018 to 2023, ends with the men’s 50-over ICC World Cup held in India in October and November next year.

The full FTP will be officially announced later this month at the ICC’s annual meeting in Birmingham on July 25 and 26.

India has always been a big draw for Australian audiences in recent years. Down Under, the last four match series, has given the financially struggling CA a huge boost with expected earnings of A$300 million.

“A season without visits to test matches in England or India usually means a drop in crowds and broadcast viewers. This is one of the reasons why CA itself uses a multi-year financial model to balance the fluctuations in its international schedule.” Australia’s leading daily newspaper report said.

At the end of the whistle, it was no surprise that CA thanked the BCCI for the “sacrifice” they had made to ensure the smooth running of what turned out to be an epic contest.

Against all odds, the Indian second line team led brilliantly by Ajinkya Rahane defeated a strong Australian side by 3 wickets at the ‘fortress’ Gabba to win the series 2-1 and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

CA acknowledged BCCI’s role in the success of the tour amid the Covid-19 pandemic, led by Sourav Ganguly.
