Proper cricket grounds with pitches, 11 on 11 players and safety gear are all a bit pricey and almost impossible to find for cricket lovers who only intend to play on Sundays. But in India, the phenomenon has started to spread in the past few years due to the increase in the number of artificial fields in different cities. So what exactly is cricket? What are the unique rules of this unique sport? The rules of box cricket are very flexible and vary from place to place. But here are seven of the most unique rules we’ve come across.

Box cricket is a cricket game played indoors or in the net. It’s basically a miniature version of cricket played at leisure.

The last ball of each inning is called the jackpot, and the batsman’s score will be doubled. In some places, the entire jackpot is over and the final round will be doubled!
In most places, if the ball hits the top of the net, it is considered dead and the ball will not be scored or sent. And in some places, a ball caught after hitting the roof is considered a wicket.
Finding 22 players at the amateur level is one of the most difficult tasks. You will always have friends who abandon you at the last moment. And box cricket pitches aren’t big enough to hold 11 outfielders at once. For convenience, therefore, cricket matches are usually played 6-on-6 or 8-on-8. For mixed games, both teams must have the same number of female athletes.
Due to time constraints, box cricket is mainly played in 5-10 overs. So there’s no room for defensive hits or penalties. In order to avoid this situation, the three penalty rule is used in many places. If a batsman fails to score three consecutive bowls, he will be declared out.

The game of cricket is slowly becoming better for batting than it used to be. But box cricket has always been a bowler’s nightmare. So, to make things easier for the bowlers, a certain number of points are subtracted from the batting side’s total for each wicket lost. A bonus for the bowling side and some relief for the bowlers.
Typically, 5 points are deducted from the total for each wicket, but this may vary from place to place.
Now, that’s one hell of a rule! Box cricket doesn’t have things like strong play and defensive limits in the first round. But to make up for that and let the batting side go for the kill, there is a jackpot/highball.

But here it is! If you lose a wicket, you also lose twice the runs you would normally lose to a wicket. So if 5 points are normally deducted from the team’s total for the wicket, the jackpot/high ball becomes 10 points. Double or nothing!
Apart from the usual ways of getting out, batsmen have some interesting ways of getting out in cricket. A ball flying straight out of the designated box without bouncing off or touching anyone in the box is the most common form of out. Therefore, the batsman must be very careful when hitting the ball.
But now, the cricket game is usually played with a net around the box. So, to keep the old rule in effect, a batter can be judged if he is caught by a ball bouncing off the net (if the ball doesn’t hit the ground or the scoreboard on the net).

In cricket, if 1 ball takes 7 runs, not even MS Dhoni can save your team unless a wide or no ball is thrown. But that’s not the case in cricket.
