Stokes played Chennai Super Kings’ first two matches of IPL 2023 before injuring his thumb during practice before the third game, which the Super Kings won by seven wickets.

CSK shelled out big money for Stokes in the IPL 2023 auction held in December last year, Rs. 16.25 crores, but his performances in the two games so far have been poor, with 15 runs and just one bowling.

Pacer Deepak Chahar suffered a hamstring injury during the match against rivals Mumbai Indians, the franchise said.
