Asia Cup 2022 Schedule: India will face Pakistan in their opening match of Asia Cup 2022 on August 28, 2022. The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates. The final of the 2022 Asian Cup will be held on September 11. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) recently confirmed that the 2022 Asia Cup will be moved to the UAE, with home hosts Sri Lanka retaining their hosting rights. The ACC has unanimously decided to shift the 2022 Asian Cup from Sri Lanka to UAE considering the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka. The ACC has not officially announced the schedule for the 2022 Asian Cup. The 2022 Asian Cup tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from August 27. The six-team tournament will feature India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the qualifiers in two groups.

With Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel out of the Asia Cup due to injury, the selectors surprised everyone with Avesh Khan remaining as the third seamer. With Avesh Khan lacking variety, it is understandable that Deepak Chahar could be promoted to the main team.
“Obviously you can’t just pick him for the Asian Cup when he comes back from injury. We have the possibility to change players before the tournament. Deepak will get his chance in Zimbabwe. If it goes well, bring back the rhythm, we will think about it,” said a member of the election commission.

India opted to go with four spinners with Deepak Hood as a part-time option. However, there are only three specialist spinners, while Hardik Pandya is another bowling option.
“Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel are not available for selection due to injury. They are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru. Three players – Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Deepak Chahar have been placed on standby,” the BCCI said in a statement.
